Dremel Saw-Max Review

This saw is a versatile cutting tool for a range of materials like wood, plastic, tile, metal, masonry etc. For tough applications, it has a 6 amp motor and worm drive gearing. It also has a dust extraction port.

The Dremel Saw-Max can do 3 types of cutting.

Straight cutting: This is cutting in a straight line on a long board.

Plunge cutting: The cutting into the center of a board directly without drilling pilot holes for the blade.

Flush cutting: The flush cutting is making a cut against another material. For flush cutting, the Dremel Saw-Max has a second-wheel position.

Ergonomic shape

The Dremel Saw-Max has an impressive shape. It is designed to be small and compact to be used in small spaces. It fits very comfortably in one hand to use smoothly. The saw has a balanced weight to it for its size and so, handles well.

Cutting Quality

The Saw-Max allows deep, smooth, clean cuts up to 3/4″ deep. The blades cut in unidirectional action, as a result, don’t really shake or splinter plywood under. It has the ability to cut wood, plastic, tile, laminates, drywall quickly with its sharp blades. As the saw uses 3’’ diameter blades which are embedded with abrasives for cutting edges.

Easy to Use

The Dremel Saw-Max is designed to be easy to use. To set the cutting depth, it has an adjustable foot. Changing the wheel is very easy and quick. Firstly, depress and loosen the lock bolt, then, remove the old disc, insert a new disc, and finally, tighten and go.

Loosen the screw for the depth scale on the side of the tool, then, set blade to the cut depth, and finally lock it in place to set the saw max’s height.

You would need only seconds to do these things at ease.

Dust Resistant and Clean

The Dremel Saw-Max has this special advantage. The saw usually cuts away from you. So, you don’t have to have the dust and wood chips.

Besides the dust extraction port, the Saw-Max has an attached vacuum cleaner to keep the environment clean.

Well Organized Storage Case

For better storage, transportation, maintenance, and durability a well-organized storage case is one of the key components. The Dremel saw max comes in a well-organized storage box with some other things also.

The Box Contains–

  1. One Dremel SM20 Saw-Max Tool
  2. One SM842 2 X 4 cutting guide
  3. One TRSM810 dust port adaptor
  4. One SM500 multi-purpose carbide cutting wheel
  5. One SM510 metal cut-off wheel
  6. One SM540 tile diamond cutting wheel
  7. One SM600 multi-purpose flush cut carbide cutting wheel
  8. Allen Wrench
  9. One User manual

What We Didn’t Like

Not Suitable for Metal Cutting:

It is not the perfect saw to cut metal and thick materials. During the cutting process, the blades tend to get too hot and sometimes, even the blade guard melts down and is smoked up. It’s a severe problem. You can control the heat by adding water to the cut.

The durability of Blades:

The blades do not last very long. The problem is that these blades are relatively expensive to replace.

Summing Up

Dremel Saw-Max is a compact type circular saw a versatile tool, fits everywhere.

The Dremel Saw-Max does what it’s designed to do. You can do small cuts like cutting wood, plastic or tile etc. If you want to cut metals and thick materials, this saw isn’t the ideal saw for you. The saw is actually good compared to its similar category saws. The extra specification it comes with makes it better.

We tried to describe the pros, cons and gave the reviews. Now it’s up to you whether to buy it or not. If you ask us, for doing smaller cuts, you should buy it. We wish you luck.
